Disney Plus is releasing new ‘Star Wars’ content just in time for ‘Star Wars’ Day

Just in time for “Star Wars” Day on May 4, Disney Plus has announced that it will be releasing new documentaries and movies to stream.

Currently, “Star Wars” fans can stream films 1-8 on Disney Plus. However, on April 27, the streaming platform announced that it would be adding the ninth film in the franchise — “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” — on May 4.

This isn’t the only new content coming to Disney Plus on May 4. The first episode of Disney Plus’ eight-part docuseries on “The Mandalorian” — titled “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian” — will also be available to stream on May 4, with subsequent episodes released weekly thereafter.

According to Variety, this docuseries will “share an in-depth look at the making of ‘The Mandalorian'” with commentary from the cast, the crew and director Jon Favreau.

“’Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian’ is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding, of how ‘The Mandalorian’ came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout season 1,” Favreau said in a statement. “We had a great experience making the show and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.”

If you don’t want to wait until May 4 to showcase your “Star Wars” spirit, Disney Plus is currently encouraging fans to share their favorite “Star Wars” memories online. If you’re lucky, “you may see it somewhere special on #MayThe4th,” a tweet from the official Disney Plus account stated.

Make sure you sign up for Disney Plus before May 4 so you’re ready to go when Disney releases all this new “Star Wars” content. Until then: May the 4th be with you.
