Organization is key — so are cleaning, storage, gardening and more. In this series, you’ll learn various tips and tricks to make gardening, grilling and even sewing easier. No matter the problem, there’s a Home Hack for that!

When you need more storage, you can spend money on new baskets and containers — or you can make your own stylish DIY rope baskets at home.

The benefits of DIY are that you can make a customized basket that matches your other home interiors, and you can do it on a budget. Store-bought rope baskets can run anywhere from $25 to $120. But these DIY rope baskets cost about $13 to make — all you need is a glass jar, rope and a hot glue gun.

To start, flip a jar upside down and spiral the rope around the bottom. Hold the rope together with hot glue, trying not to get any on the jar. Then, continue wrapping the rope around the jar until you reach the top. If you’d like handles, you can pull the rope out from the sides of the jar and secure it with glue.

Once done, flip over the rope basket and make sure the glue is completely cooled and set. Then, pull out the jar.

Store whatever you’d like in your rope baskets — magazines, toys, scarves — and get more organized in style.
