Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson shared his recipe for the cocktail of the summer

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson isn’t just a professional wrestler and well-paid actor; he’s also the founder of Teremana Tequila, a small-batch tequila company in Jalisco, Mexico, operated by a local, family-owned distillery.

Tequila has always been the warm-weather spirit du jour and this year’s no different. So, to get in the summer spirit (pun intended), Johnson decided to give his Instagram followers a little tutorial on how to make a watermelon “manarita.”

“I created Teremana with the sole purpose to bring people together,” the “Jumanji” star says in the video. “It’s been so gratifying despite the crazy year we’ve already had. It’s been so gratifying to see so many of you around the world enjoying Teremana.”

Ingredients: 

• 2 oz. Teremana Blanco or Reposado
• 1 oz. lime juice
• 0.5 oz. agave nectar 
• 4 large chunks of watermelon

To make The Rock’s go-to cocktail, put the lime juice, agave and watermelon in a shaker, then muddle until thoroughly combined.

While you make your cocktail, keep in mind this pro tip straight from The Rock himself.

“Old bartender trick,” Johnson explained. “You always want to wait and add your spirits last. Why? Because if you screw up the first part you’re not wasting your magic.”

With The Rock’s advice in mind, add your Teremana (the magic) to the shaker with ice last and shake well. Or, opt for — as Johnson calls it — “the sexy shake,” where you also gaze off into the distance wearing trendy sunglasses. Finally, drink up!

There’s probably no cooler way to quarantine than by fixing yourself a refreshing cocktail and toasting with The Rock.

“I raise this Teremana toast to my mana ohana,” Johnson says. “What a crazy year we’ve already had, but to better and better days the rest of this summer. You certainly deserve it. We deserve it. Salud.”
