Here are all the easy TikTok dances you need to know

TikTok is pretty much known for its viral dance crazes. And while a few of the popular routines have required some serious skills (the “WAP” dance may have resulted in a hospitalization), these are easy TikTok dances that folks from all walks of life can do.

For these easy TikTok dances, most of the choreography is hand movements with only a tiny bit of footwork and no acrobatics necessary. So, if you’ve been wondering how to do TikTok dances, you’ll definitely want to check out these fun tutorials.

1. The “Say So” Dance

Doja Cat’s chart-topping single “Say So” inspired a viral TikTok dance. It was created in December 2019 by TikTok user Haley Sharpe (yodelinghaley). But when Doja Cat actually incorporated the routine into the official music video for the song, it really took off. Fortunately for us noobs, it’s one of the easier TikTok dances, and you can learn it with this YouTube tutorial.

2. The “Something New” Challenge

When 18-year-old Kerrington Keyes (kerringtonjk) came up with the “Something New” challenge, which takes its name from the Wiz Khalifa track, in February, he had no idea it would go so viral. Wiz Khalifa even joined in on the fun and did the choreography with his family. Check out the YouTube tutorial for this slow jam.

3. “American Boy but Shibuya is There Too

The origins of this hip-swinging dance, which mashes up Estelle’s “American Boy” and a remix of Frank Ocean’s “Chanel,” are a bit obscure. But the TikTok favorite made its way to one of its most popular users — Addison Rae Easterling — and has soundtracked 2.7 million videos since. Learn it here on YouTube.

4. The “Blinding Lights” Dance

TikTok user macdaddyz is credited with originating the bouncy, ’80s aerobics-style choreography to The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.” Be sure to watch the tutorial on YouTube.

5. The “Toosie Slide” Dance

When Anthony Hopkins does a dance challenge, you know it’s popping. Drake knew he wanted the single “Toosie Slide” to go viral, so he included the instructions in the song: “right foot up/left foot slide.” However, the dance is a little more complicated than the lyrics indicate, so you’ll want to peep a tutorial to get it just right.
