Charli D’Amelio is the most followed person on TikTok, but her “twin” Ellie Zeiler is quickly gaining momentum on the platform.
Who is Ellie Zeiler?
Zeiler was born on Mar. 6, 2004 and is 17 years old. She is from San Diego and lives with her parents Rick and Sarah. She also has a set of twin brothers named Ben and William.
Zeiler started posting videos on TikTok in March 2020 and received 2 million followers in a month. She rose in popularity after D’Amelio herself commented on one of Zeiler’s videos to say how similar they looked.
Ellie Zeiler may not be an influencer forever
Despite having an ever-growing following, Zeiler is still interested in having a more “ordinary” job one day.
“My dream school is New York University,” she told the Teen Magazine. “I’m interested in having a career in the field of real estate when I grow up. As of now, I may be an influencer, but I plan on continuing on with my scholarly studies.”
Ellie Zeiler is an activist for teens of all cultural backgrounds
Zeiler founded a youth group with her friends in 2019 called Together as One. It’s a safe space for teens of different backgrounds to share their experiences with prejudice.
“I speak out on the platform about my personal experience with anti-semitism and I empower others to learn more about cultural diversity and acceptance. I am also the captain of YAM, or Youth Action Movement, which is a Jewish youth group in San Diego,” Zeiler told the Teen Magazine.
Comparisons to D’Amelio have caused some serious drama for Ellie Zeiler
When Zeiler launched a drink with Erewhon Market called “The Ellie Matcha,” people on social media began to accuse her of copying D’Amelio.
In 2020, D’Amelio launched a cold brew coffee with Dunkin’ Donuts called “The Charli.”
“But why only after Charli gets her own drink?” one of the comments said.
“The Ellie? Please be original at least,” another said, to which Zeiler replied, “What else am I supposed to name something I made?”
Well, I guess that settles it.
