TikTok is busting myths now, thanks to a musical duo known as @partyshirt.
PARTY SHIRT is a pair of creatives known as Ivy and X. While they’re musicians, their most popular content is their “fact or cap” videos. The term “cap” is slang for lie on TikTok, so what the guys are really trying to do is separate fact from fiction.
What is @partyshirt?
PARTY SHIRT consists of musicians Ivy (aka Nick Iavarone( and X (aka Xavier Di Petta.)
The music producers met in a USC dorm room in 2016 and bonded over their shared passion for fashion, art and music. Ivy and X are friends with David Dobrik, and when he rose to fame on YouTube, they decided to try their hand at TikTok.
Their debut single “Dancing Tonight” hit No. 1 on the TikTok pop chart in 2020 and has since earned over 200 million views.
PARTY SHIRT is best known for their videos where they test TikTok hacks to see if they really work as part of their “fact or cap” series.
Here are some of PARTY SHIRT’s best “fact or cap” videos:
Ivy and X tested a hack that claimed mixing powdered sugar and granulated sugar together in a blender would create cotton candy.
The verdict: Cap! Lies!
In this video, PARTY SHIRT tried placing a marker under running water to create a colorful purple stream.
The verdict: Fact! It worked.
The guys tried converting a N95 face mask into a hot air balloon by attaching it to a lit candle.
The verdict: Cap! It caught fire. Do not try this at home.
