Family comes up with brilliant trick to avoid paying for food at amusement and water parks

Just in time for summer, a family’s brilliant money-saving food hack is going viral — and being hailed as one of the best parenting hacks people have ever come across.

TikToker Shay (@shaynddream) gained over 3.2 million views, 415,000 likes and 6,200 comments when she uploaded the budget-friendly idea to her account.

Unlike some amusement park-goers — like the Disney Adults who are revealing how much their “no budget eating” costs them in Disney parks — Shay and her family try to make summertime fun affordable — hence her now viral hack.

Now, much like the mom who blew TikTok’s mind with her deep-cleaning toilet seat hack, Shay’s clever idea might just become a household staple.

Anyone who’s ever brought their family to an amusement or water park knows how expensive lunchtime can be.

Since many parks prohibit outside food and drinks from coming in, families are often forced to purchase meals from the park — whose menu prices tend to be on the heftier side.

Looking to feed everyone without spending a small fortune, Shay’s family came up with the perfect solution: a birthday party, complete with wrapped presents.

Inside one of those presents? Not toys or clothes — but warm, home-cooked hotdogs, individually wrapped and ready to go!

‘I’m taking a present every where I go now’

Over 6,000 TikTokers applauded Shay’s money-saving summertime hack in the comments.

“This is the best mom hack I’ve ever seen in my entire life,” one user wrote.

“Not me taking gifts to concerts now. 😌🍸🍷,” another comment read.

“😳 I’m so impressed!!!! I’m taking a present every where I go now!!!! Such a brilliant idea 💡!!!!!” cheered another user.

“This as opposed to an $8 hot dog, brilliant,” wrote one user.

“$50 for some tenders and fries?….sheeeeet! Pass me bout 3 nem dogs please!” commented another.

“Brilliant! When I was young we would put a cooler filled with food in our car but then we had to walk all the way to the car at lunch 😂,” one user laughed.

“Ok We saw it now delete this before they start banning wrapped gifts lol brilliant!” joked another user.

Thanks to Shay, many families this summer will be able to pinch a few pennies, while still making special memories with their loved ones.
