Halloween is the perfect time for families to show off their creative chops. Sure, it’s easy to just throw on that witch hat and call it a day, but for families who truly want to wow their neighbors, a clever hilarious costume can really make a difference. Plus, it’s always nice to balance the spookiness of Halloween with some laughter!
1. Lobster and Chef Costume
Throw on a chef’s outfit, grab the biggest pot you got, dress up your little one in a lobster costume (or any other food that could be boiled would work well too), and get ready to be the best-dressed fam on the block. Your arms might get tired from carrying around a giant pot all night—but if comedy was easy, everyone would do it.
2. Dwight Schrute from The Office
Bears, beets, and babies wearing neckties. Fans of The Office will lose it at this hilarious tribute, and you probably already have most of what you need at home to pull it off. To round out the costume, the rest of the fam can dress up as other Dunder Mifflin employees, but there’s nothing wrong with just going as a group of matching Dwights.
3. Shark Attack Victim and Lifeguard
For parents who just can’t do Halloween without a splash of fake blood, this is the costume for you. One parent dresses as a lifeguard, while the other dresses like someone who just got attacked by a shark, including ripped clothes, and the fake blood of your choosing. Then, dress up your child like an adorable baby shark and you’ve got a hilarious costume with plenty of bite.
4. Pennywise and Georgie from It
Your kids probably shouldn’t watch It, but that doesn’t mean they can’t shock your friends by dressing up as the characters. All you really need to complete the classic horror look is a generic clown costume, a yellow raincoat and a red balloon. Parents can feel free to match their kids if they’re feeling left out. Just make sure to avoid any sewers.
5. McDonald’s French Fries
This TikTok went viral in 2020, and it’s easy to see why. With full body spandex costumes, pool noodles, and plenty of cardboard, this DIY fast food tribute is quite an ordeal to make. But if you’re willing to put in the time, your neighborhood will be talking about this one for years to come. One caveat—you’ll all have to stay right next to each other for the whole night. Who ever said no to a bit of family bonding?
