Check out these genius slow cooker hacks every home cook should know

Slow cookers are good for a lot more than just making delicious meals! Here are 3 kitchen hacks to turn your slow cooker into a do-it-all appliance that every home chef could use.

Turn your slow cooker into a humidifier

Fill up the slow cooker with water, and heat it on high. When it starts steaming, remove the lid and turn the heat down to low. For an extra drop of relaxation, feel free to add some essential oils. Aromatherapy for the win!

Make DIY potpourri in your slow cooker

Fill ⅔ of your slow cooker with water. Then add in some orange slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and fresh rosemary sprigs. Then set the slow cooker on high for 4 hours, and enjoy as the comforting scent of fresh potpourri fills your home.

Use your slow cooker as a double boiler

Place whatever ingredient you want to melt in jars and place the jars in the slow cooker. Then, fill the slow cooker halfway with water, and turn on the heat. Slowly stir the ingredients until they’re fully melted and then use them as you wish.

Tip: Use this technique with chocolate chips to make a decadent chocolate sauce that’s perfect for coating and dipping. It’s like your own DIY chocolate fondue pot!
