Contrary to popular belief, the best wine doesn’t have to be expensive. In fact, there are plenty of wines under $10 that have won awards. If you ball out on Trader Joe’s “two-buck Chuck,” but still want to feel fancy, just update your glassware.

Geometric wine glasses are all the rage on Instagram right now. These are the glasses with a somewhat square or hexagonal design. Basically, the bottom of the glass is flat or angled, instead of rounded, where it meets the stem. See examples from West Elm and Pottery Barn below:

Super cute, right? No matter what you drink out of a geometric wine glass — red wine, white wine, champagne or even water — you’ll definitely feel more elegant.

If you were a fan of the original Gossip Girl series, you’ve actually seen the square-edged glasses before. Blair Waldorf practically launched the trend in 2009! And the geometric wine glasses even graced the Thanksgiving table of the Humphreys and Van der Woodsens. Turns out that the Gossip Girl wine glasses are timeless, and more popular than ever now.

While Blair probably wouldn’t dare, you can find geometric stemless wine glasses, too. Stemless wine glasses are easier for storing in small spaces, more casual and are generally more durable. But keep in mind if you’re a white wine drinker, the warmth of your hand on the glass will transfer to your drink. So, if you like a chilled glass of sauvignon blanc, you should probably stick to using glasses with stems.

If you want geometric wine glasses to elevate your next wine night in, check out the popular styles below. Whether you’re sipping solo on the couch or having friends over for happy hour, you’ll feel like a bonafide socialite.
