Woman makes grandad’s dream trip come true on his 83rd birthday: ‘Literally in tears’

A TikToker surprised her grandad with the trip of a lifetime.

Aine Kennedy is an Ireland-based beauty blogger and the founder of the hair product line The Smooth Company. Her grandfather, affectionately nicknamed “Grandad Billy,” is the face of her company and often appears in content with Kennedy. Needless to say, the two are pretty close.

She wanted to do something special for her grandfather’s 83rd birthday. Grandad Billy always talked about wanting to go to Amsterdam but hadn’t made the trip yet, so Kennedy decided to plan a trip for him.

“It’s literally his dream to go to Amsterdam,” she said.

She purchased a train ticket card from Amazon to make the surprise all the more effective. The card looked like a novelty train ticket, but in order to see the destination, you had to scratch it off like a lottery card.

Grandad Billy opened the ticket up and looked intrigued. He quickly whipped out a coin and got to scratching.

“Oh my god! Really?!” the grandpa said, realizing they were going to Amsterdam.

He was absolutely giddy about it and couldn’t stop smiling.

“Thank you so much!” he said, hugging the granddaughter.

The duo won’t be hitting up the Dutch city until Oct. 11. People on TikTok loved Grandad Billy and wished the family a wonderful trip.

“Why do I love that he has change in his pockets, proper grandad, he’s adorable,” a user said

“I’m literally in tears this made me so happy,” another wrote

“Grandad is so spry! that’s going to be the most fun trip!” a TikToker replied

“Omg seeing older ppl still get to travel and live their dreams make me so happy,” a person added.

“This is so sweet, his lil face lit up,” someone wrote
