TikTokers are sharing their unique experiences with love and loss

A new TikTok trend about love is based on a conversation in Skins.

Millennials may recognize the audio in the “Have you ever been in love?” trend from the hit British teen dramedy. Here’s what you need to know about this romantic and dramatic meme.

What is the “have you ever been in love” trend on TikTok?

The meme features a conversation between two Skins’ characters, Cassie and Jal. Cassie is reeling over her ex-boyfriend, Sid while Jal has a budding romance with Chris. The exchange took place in episode five of season two.

Cassie: Have you ever been in love?

Jal: I don’t think so.

Cassie (holding a knife): Do you want me to describe it to you?

Each TikTok features the audio with images of the person’s idea of what love is. However, @izzyboring3’s video is quite tragic since she is recalling the event’s leading to her late boyfriend’s untimely death.

“I really respect that you are using your platform to share hope,” one person commented

“This breaks my heart,” another said

But in @sadie.aseere she used an assortment of random images to show her perception of what love is. It included dynamite, drowning, flowers, rainbows and dangling off a cliff.

“Close but I’d say more intense,” someone responded.

“This is perfect,” a user wrote

Then @bomdia.bowls put her own spin on it asking, “have you ever had best friends at work?”

She showed surveillance footage of herself and her coworker besties dancing at the coffee shop they all work at.

“I don’t care where I’ll work if it’s gonna be like this,” one user said.

“Why am I emotional? OMG!” someone commented.
