A wax figure of hip-hop star Nicki Minaj that debuted at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Berlin on Jan. 7 ended up looking a little more like Roman’s revenge than a Barbie ting, according to some passionate Twitter users.
The statue of the “Megatron” rapper, which depicts her as she appeared in the music video for her 2014 hit “Anaconda,” is currently the subject of relentless digital mocking, with many fans claiming it looks absolutely nothing like the star.
“It’s like when you buy generic instead of name brand,” one user wrote. “You know what you have but it’s just not quite as good.”
“That horrible Nicki Minaj wax figure reminded of this Ronaldo statue,” said another, invoking the image of this unforgettable 2017 disaster.
GIF reactions were also plentiful:
Minaj, however, seems to hold a different opinion.
“YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WTF?!?!?!?!??!?? Had no idea they were really doing this,” she captioned a video of her likeness, along with multiple heart-eyes emojis. “I would’ve went to Vegas for this. #HappyBirthdayAnaconda Madam Tussauds Wax Figure- whoever did this”
This isn’t the first time the internet has called Madame Tussauds out on a missed mark.
In May 2019, a statue of Ariana Grande unveiled at the museum’s London location went viral due to its slightly off depiction of the pop princess.
Though the singer’s wax figure was dressed in her classic black knee-high boot, baggy sweatshirt look, and was even topped with her iconic high ponytail, many were quick to point out that the detailing on her face left much to be desired.
