Have you ever gone to the store to pick out beauty products only to be overwhelmed by all the options? With HelloAva, you won’t have that problem.

Founded by Siqi Mou, an entrepreneur who immigrated to the U.S. from China at 17 years old to attend college, HelloAva is a personalized skincare recommendation engine that utilizes both artificial intelligence and human expertise to suggest the best products for your skincare regimen. It also stores data from customers based on their skin attributes in order to give the most relevant recommendations.

“A lot of what we do is to make sure that we can take the guesswork out of this skincare purchase process and to make sure that we only recommend you products that work for your specific skin needs,” HelloAva co-founder Kailu Guan explained to In The Know.

So how does HelloAva work? Well, the first thing every customer needs to do is take a five-minute skincare quiz. Once you’re finished with the quiz, you will get “an in-depth analysis of your skin type and skin strengths and weaknesses,” according to Guan. After that, you are matched with a licensed aesthetician who will recommend products.

Mou’s experience as an immigrant surrounded by “amazing talent from all over the world” has certainly influenced her company mission, which is to help people of all walks of life find the right skincare for their specific needs.

“You are super unique and you should celebrate and love for who you are and that’s something that no one can ever take away from you,” Mou said. “That should also be the case for your skincare.”

Head to HelloAva’s website to take the skin quiz and get your personalized results!
