Here’s the easiest way to organize your dresser

In this episode of ITK: Uncluttered, professional organizers Fillip and Jamie Hord (@horderly) show the easiest way to organize a dresser and keep the clutter out. Through simple organization hacks and new folding techniques, Fillip and Jamie’s method can help you declutter your clothes and keep them that way.

Demonstrating on a shared his and hers dresser, the duo starts out by inserting expandable drawer dividers to create structure inside the top drawer. We like using this JONYJ five-pack of adjustable drawer separators from Amazon. After arranging the drawer organizers, Fillip and Jamie then mark each section with clear labels that are barely visible but can help you distinguish where everything is kept.

Next, Jamie shows how she folds clothes — and not just through the typical one-pant-leg over-the-other approach. “The first tip I always give when folding is to look at the item and then lay it down flat,” she says. Using a pair of boxers, a set of socks, a T-shirt, a pair of shorts, a sweatshirt and sweatpants as examples, she advises imagining a line going down the middle of each item and arranging the folding from there.

Following Fillip and Jamie’s folding techniques can help you fit more clothing into your dresser drawers and make it easier to find exactly what you’re looking for.
