If you’ve done any research into at-home teeth whitening products, you’ve probably come across the four main categories: Whitening toothpaste, whitening strips, whitening pens and whitening LED lights. However, TikTok is all about this purple serum that some creators claim whitens their teeth pretty much instantly. Hey, even Kim Kardashian did an ad for it!

The product is called hismile v34 Colour Corrector, and Amazon shoppers seem to love it too. It has over 6,000 five-star reviews. But, the main question: Does it actually work? The answer is yes and no.
According to a few TikTok-creating dentists like @thelondondentist, the technology is similar to purple shampoo blondes use to brighten their hair. Purple shampoo cancels out yellow or brassy tones found in bleached hair, and this serum essentially does the same thing — the purple serum conceals the yellow stains on teeth. However, the keyword here is that it conceals stains, so it’s temporary and doesn’t totally correct or remove stains. Once you eat or drink something, you may lose the whitening effect. However, it’s a good quick solution for an event, a photoshoot or anywhere else you want a whiter smile fast.
If you’re looking for longer results but don’t want to shell out your cash on professional whitening, your best bet is to try hydrogen peroxide strips, according to @thebentist on TikTok.
On a more personal note, I recently tried the Colgate Optic White Express Teeth Whitening Pen, which aims to whiten teeth in as little as one day, and I think it works. I already have pretty white teeth, so it’s hard to see a major difference in photos. However, I drink coffee and Diet Coke on a daily basis, so I love using this for a quick touchup before weddings or casual date nights.
