Although I love seeing what other people can do with makeup, I don’t actually like to wear a lot myself. And now that working from home is the norm, I barely put on anything other than my skin care products.
When I do like to feel a little put-together, my preferred vibe is definitely the “no-makeup” makeup look. You know, when you’re technically wearing makeup, but it isn’t so noticeable? Striking that balance actually does require some skill and a deft hand, but when it comes together, you basically look like a more polished version of yourself.
In addition to practice, creating a great “no-makeup” makeup look also requires the right products. Rather than choosing richly pigmented products, you’ll want to opt for makeup that’s blendable, buildable and well-suited to your skin tone and complexion.
If you need a little help finding the right products to pull off an understated makeup look, keep reading. Below are four I swear by for a no-fail “no-makeup” makeup look every time.
Glossier Boy Brow, $16
While my eyebrows aren’t thin, they are definitely sparse. Glossier’s Boy Brow is an iconic product that definitely lives up to the hype. It makes my brows look fuller, but not in a drawn-on, obvious way. I can’t live without this stiff.
My eyes are really sensitive, so I have to be careful about what I use on and around them. This Beautycounter Think Big All-in-One Mascara doesn’t irritate my eyes at all, but it does make my lashes look way long.
Blush is essential when doing a “no-makeup” makeup look. It’s the product that gives you the perfect flushed, lit-from-within glow. I am obsessed with the Lys Beauty Higher Standard Satin Matte Cream Blush because it goes on super smooth, blends in easily and doesn’t dry out my skin.
Lanolips Rose Gold 101 Ointment, $16.95
When you just want a hint of color on your lips, this Lanolips Rose Gold 101 Ointment is perfect. It gives just a bit of rosiness but also keeps your lips nourished and hydrated.
Here’s a pic of my finished look using the products above:
