These hidden features will totally enhance your TikTok experience.
You can find most of TikTok’s search tools in the “Discover” section by tapping on the small magnifying glass at the bottom of the screen. Here you’ll see trending videos and can search for users, sounds, videos and hashtags. You can also find users’ TikCodes, as well as your own.
But there are other ways to navigate the app that are less prominently featured. Here’s how to use TikTok’s hidden features like a pro.
How to find something you scrolled past
It happens all the time. A video pops up on your FYP, you view it but forget to save it. Then when you want to show it to a friend, you can’t remember what it was called or which user made it. Luckily there’s a solution.
Tap the three dots next to the search bar and look under “Filters.” You’ll see a sectioned called “Watched videos within the last seven days.” Switch the slider to turn the feature on.
Now TikTok will save your watching history for the last seven days. You’ll be able to find all those videos you thought were lost forever.
How to find duets and stitches
While there’s no button you can press to find all of the duets and stitches under a username, TikTok still makes it possible.
Go to the search bar and type in “duet” followed by the handle of the user who made the original video. Every video that dueted the original should come up. You can use the same method to find related stitches, just search “stitch” and the username.
How to search for TikTok filters
The way to find new filters on TikTik isn’t so obvious either. Tap “Discover” and then type the name of the desired filter into the search bar. Searching for something like “cartoon filter” will populate any related effects. To view the filter, all you have to do is tap it to open a page of videos using the effect.
How to search for TikTok sounds
The best way to search for sounds is to access the TikTok Sounds Library by tapping “+” on the home screen followed by “Sounds.” You can find sounds categorized by genre, popularity and trends here.
Another way to find sounds is on the “Discover” page. Just type the name of the sound you’re looking for into the search bar. Then tap “Sounds” to view the results.
