Light up your space with this DIY take on trendy twisted taper candles! On this episode of In The Know: DIY, TikTok’s grand dame of design, Tay Beepboop (@taybeepboop), demonstrates how to create your own stylish spiral candles, transforming any nooks and crannies in your home into a modern still life ready for its close-up.

Tools & Materials Used

  • Hot water
  • Rolling tool

Step 1: Add Your Candles To Hot Tap Water

Pour hot tap water into a glass cylinder vase, ensuring enough room at the top so the base of the candle doesn’t get wet. Then, place the candles wick side down into the hot water and let them sit for 15 minutes.

Step 2: Mold Your Candles

Remove a candle from the vase and gently wipe it dry. Place the candle on a sheet of wax paper and use a rolling tool to flatten the center of the candle, leaving enough room for the base to fit inside a candlestick holder. Then, gently pinch and sculpt the flattened section with your hands to create interesting twists and turns.

Step 3: Set The Candles’ Shapes

After molding each candle, dunk it in a second vase filled with cold water to solidify its shape.

Step 4: Style Your New Candles

Have fun arranging your trendy twisted candles in a variety of stylish candle holders. Clear candle holders provide an elegant, ethereal look, while tall gold ones feature a sleek, minimal aesthetic. Both styles beautifully complement the homemade candles and elevate any space where they’re situated.
