One unfortunate effect of the pandemic for my family was the reintegration of plastic water bottles. I’m trying to convince them all to look into getting a Hydros water bottle, though, which filters your water from almost anywhere. Plus, knowing how impatient they are, the water takes only 20 seconds to filter.
I heavily encourage my family to drink water over juice in my household. However, I also don’t want to help contribute to more plastic usage than I already do. Hydros, a water filter startup, produced the 20-ounce Hydros water bottle from 100 percent coconut shell carbon. It lets you add water through a small opening opposite the sipping point of the bottle cap to filter. Once you go to take a gulp, you just press the sides of the filter opening and sip the opposite end.

In terms of the filter’s quality, it meets the NSF/ANSI Standard 42 (one of two residential drinking water standards). The filter doesn’t take up a lot of space in the actual bottle itself, making it easy to clean. Plus, you’ll only have to replace your filter every 40 gallons (or every two months).
There are a plethora of water bottles out there already, I’m aware. In The Know has previously reviewed the Hydro Flask Standard Mouth Water Bottle, which keeps your drinks hot or cold. Also lasting up to two months before requiring a filter change is the Brita Premium Filter Water Bottle that retails for $19.94 and filters water as you drink.
Ultimately, it’s really up to what your daily liquid intake is and how you want it. But really, just keep staying hydrated out there, peeps.
