Parent transforms ordinary Ikea shelf into toddler wardrobe

This parent on TikTok turned an ordinary Ikea shelf into a fabulous customized wardrobe for her toddler!

TikToker April Matic (@byaprilannee) is a parent who frequently posts videos of toddler activities and home and playroom decor. Recently, Matic shared a video where she transforms an ordinary Ikea shelf into a fully-fledged toddler wardrobe, and the results are incredible!

The clip begins with a shot of a basic white shelf with four storage units. First, Matic removes one of the shelf dividers and attaches a small tension rod towards the top to hang her toddler Liam’s clothing.

After filling two baskets with stacks of diapers, she neatly places them on the remaining two shelves on the other side of the furniture.

As if the shelf makeover couldn’t get any sweeter, Matic takes things into cuteness overload by attaching a full-length, full-length, toddler-sized acrylic mirror to one side of the shelf.

Since a dressing station isn’t complete without a place to lounge, Matic also includes a tiny wooden stool with Liam’s name inscribed in block letters.

Matic’s makeshift wardrobe is not only adorable, but it’s also a fun and functional way for little ones to learn practical life skills such as hanging up clothes and organizing other items.

Between the shot of Liam brushing his hair with an intense focus to the footage of him painstakingly hanging up each of his clothes, he seems to have taken a liking to his new wardrobe.

Viewers were blown away by the shelf’s transformation as well as Matic’s mastery of minimalism.

“LOVE!! Can you show us his room? My son is turning one on Wednesday, and we have a small house. I’m thinking of putting this nugget in his room and doing a wardrobe,” one inspired parent gushed.

“I was just about to sell my cabinet like this! Thank you for the idea,” mentioned one viewer.

“Ooo, I’m going to do this with dress-up clothes,” shared another user.

As the video shows, a little imagination and reorganization can go a long way when it comes to upgrading basic furniture.
