A former In-N-Out worker said she once had to explain what a cheeseburger with no cheese was to a customer.
TikToker @sarahdavis1729 responded to a prompt about the “most ridiculous” thing she ever had to explain. Once, when she worked the register at In-N-Out, a customer made a confusing request for a cheeseburger with no cheese. At first, it seemed obvious what the person wanted, but by the end of her story, things were far less clear.
When the customer ordered a “cheeseburger with no cheese,” she asked if the person wanted a hamburger. They said no and reiterated the request.
So she rang up a hamburger to avoid charging them for the cheese. But when the shopper saw the receipt, they “went off on her,” saying it was not what they ordered.
The cashier then charged the patron for a cheeseburger and wrote a note to the cook that said “no cheese.” When the customer finally got their food, they were very upset that their cheeseburger with no cheese didn’t have cheese on it.
Some people were perplexed by the customer, while others had dealt with similar patrons at their job.
“So what did she actually want if she wanted the cheese after all???? I’m so confused!” a user commented.
“A no cheese cheeseburger with cheese please,” a TikToker wrote.
“I’ve learned to charge customers for what their asking at this point to avoid issues like this. I worked at Taco Bell,” another said.
“My nephew used to order the same exact way except he was five years old,” a person joked.
“I worked at retail and some people are just looking to bother people working,” someone added.
