Pooja Mehta’s mental health advocacy has reached thousands of people across the United States. Over the last six years, her work has been promoted in podcasts and articles in major media publications. Mehta has been open about living with schizoid anxiety and depression, and, as a South Asian American woman, she has been particularly vocal about helping minorities get mental health help regardless of their cultural background. Mehta started Duke’s National Alliance on Mental Illness program and while an undergraduate she also hosted panels and speaking events, including a TEDx talk, on mental health.
