Chante’ Reddest is a 20-year-old photography student who lives in Ohio. He is Italian Oglala and Sicangu Lakota, and is affiliated with the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Chante’ uses his TikTok account, which has more than 730,000 followers, to dispel misconceptions about Native Americans in pop culture and share tales from Native American folklore. After sharing one story about the legend of “deer women,” his followers encouraged him to keep up the good work and complimented the calming tone of his voice. His ultimate aim for the account is to help encourage fellow mixed-race individuals feel comfortable embracing their indigenous identity and to educate his followers about his culture.
