You might have seen up-and-comer Jay Alvarrez’s name on your Instagram or TikTok feed recently.
The 25-year-old model has been featured in major brand campaigns, has dated a slew of famous ladies and, thanks to Logan Paul, is currently entangled in an unexpected “coconut oil” controversy.

Who is Jay Alvarrez?
Alvarrez was born in Hawaii on July 5, 1995. He dropped out of high school following his mother’s untimely death from cancer when he was just 14 years old. His father raised him and he has since become a noted model, travel blogger and social media influencer.
Alvarrez has 6.4 million Instagram followers at press time. As a model, he has worked with brands like Aldo, Bonds swimwear, Calvin Klein, Express, Ralph Lauren and Hyundai. Alvarrez was GQ Style Russia’s cover star in September 2020.
Who is Jay Alvarrez dating?
Alvarrez has been romantically linked to several models and influencers since 2014.
Alexis Ren (2014-2016)
Alvarrez dated fellow model Alexis Ren from 2014 to 2016. Ren’s large following helped to raise Alvarrez’s status. The two bonded over the loss of their mothers, but after two years, they broke up — and it got messy. Ren went on a Twitter rant advising others to stay away from f***boys and mocked Alvarrez’s penis size.
Tana Mongeau (2018)
YouTuber Tana Mongeau and Alvarrez never publicly confirmed their relationship, but many speculated they were an item. The pair used the “boyfriend tag” in a YouTube video, which led many to suggest that they started dating during an influencer trip to Greece. While on the trip, Mongeau shared a photo in which Alvarrez fed her grapes. She captioned it, “Bae feeding me clout like.”
In Dec. 2020, Mongeau said on TikTok that Alvarrez blocked her on social media back from when they “dated” (in quotes).
Valentina Fradegrada (2019)
In 2019, Alvarrez dated Italian model Valentina Fradegrada. However, when the couple posted a nude selfie with the caption, “Bang her on every piece of furniture in his house,” it did not go over well. Jay then updated the caption to, “I can’t believe anyone got offended by this. Next time I’ll post the video.” He eventually deleted the image.
Why is Jay Alvarrez trending on TikTok?
Because no influencer can go unscathed by Logan Paul, Alvarrez became entangled in a sex tape controversy in December — and he has the YouTuber to thank. Paul and Mike Majlak discussed the existence of a video, in which Alvarrez sleeps with Russian model Sveta Bilyalova, on their Impaulsive podcast. Naturally, the internet went out and found it, and chaos ensued.
Many are speculating that because the video has a high production value, Alvarrez and Bilyalova may have uploaded it themselves. However, Bilyalova has alleged several times that Alvarrez actually uploaded it without her consent, while both Alvarrez and many of his friends (including Mongeau) have denied such claims.
Either way, in a world where both famous and non-famous folks have to deal with such invasions of privacy, most people aren’t shaming either model for the tape.
TikTok users have become fascinated by two things and only two things: the fact that Missy Elliott’s “Pass That Dutch” is featured in the video and the fact that Alvarrez heats coconut oil in a kettle to use as a lubricant, which just sounds really scary! If you see any references to coconut oil on TikTok, this is likely what it means.
