Jeff Wittek is a member of David Dobrik’s controversial Vlog Squad. The group of YouTubers came under fire this year due to sexual assault allegations. While the Vlog Squad members are a revolving door of characters, Wittek became an addition to the crew in 2020.
Things haven’t necessarily gone well for him since then, though.
What happened to Jeff Wittek?
On June 30, 2020, Wittek posted on Instagram that he had gotten into a serious accident.
“I got in an accident and broke my face and skull in a few places. But I’m OK. I’m more alive than ever. I’ll heal up good as new,” he wrote.
He didn’t specify what led to the accident, but Wittek did appear to have a damaged eye. Then on April 21, 2021, he finally revealed what actually happened in a video called “How I Broke My Face.”
Wittek explained that during the lockdown, the Vlog Squad tried to get back together by doing stunts.
He claimed that Dobrik had the idea that he and the Vlog Squad swing from a rope attached to an excavator in the middle of a lake. While the other members went safely, when it was Wittek’s turn, he said the excavator went too fast.
“What’s the worst that could happen if I swing from a rope over a one-foot-deep lake?” Wittek said in the video. “But this is where I made a mistake. I forgot that the biggest f***ing idiot I know was driving [the excavator].”
Dobrik was the one controlling the excavator, Wittek alleged. Wittek spun out of control and the machine threw him into the shallow water.
Dobrik has not responded to Wittek’s claims about the incident. He’s been taking a so-called social media break since March 22, when he issued a second apology for his “past actions” involving allegations made about other Vlog Squad videos.
