Don’t fall for what ‘Jenna Ortega reveals’ on Twitter

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega is not actually revealing all her favorite things.

The internet loves straight-up lying! It especially loves making up the improbable about the buzziest celebs of the moment. When Ortega solidified herself as the star of Netflix’s hit Addams Family series, fans on social media went full meme mode.

On Dec. 1, Twitter user @ssevngmjn posted a tweet claiming that Ortega revealed she was obsessed with the K-pop group Stray Kids. It even attributed a fake quote to the actress.

After the tweet received over 54,000 likes, the “Jenna Ortega says/reveals” meme was born.

“’Wednesday’’s Jenna Ortega reveals to Vogue that her favourite album of all time is ‘MONTERO’ by Lil Nas X: ‘I’ve been obsessed with this album since it came out, I find it very underrated. Lil Nas X is truly a genius,’” @notpranto wrote on Twitter.

“Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega says her favourite football player is Messi,” @Messilizer said in a meme

“‘Wednesday’s’ Jenna Ortega reveals in a new interview that her favorite ‘Succession’ character is Kendall Roy,” @kendallhosseini joked in a tweet

Unfortunately, when everyone is spreading misinformation online, someone is bound to believe it. In a since-deleted tweet, Captain Marvel star Brie Larson invited Ortega to appear on her YouTube channel, Pop Crave reported.

A fan tweeted that Jenna Ortega supposedly revealed her favorite Marvel character was Captain Marvel. Larson replied, “[C]ome on my YouTube channel and teach me the iconic Wednesday dance.”

Larson eventually deleted the tweet. Just another casualty of those pesky misinformation memes!
