Meet Jordan Alexander, the influencer leading the ‘Gossip Girl’ Gen Z reboot

The Gossip Girl reboot is here and there’s a new, gentler queen bee ruling the Upper East Side.

Actress Jordan Alexander plays Julien Calloway, the most popular girl at Constance Billard who disowns the previous social hierarchies’ mean girl ways. Calloway is an influencer with a secret sister and a middling relationship.

But now that Alexander’s star is on the rise, the new It girl appears to be doing some influencing of her own.

Who is Jordan Alexander?

Alexander was born on July 27, 1993 and is currently 27 years old. She hails from Vancouver and Toronto, Canada and is of German, Irish and Black American heritage. She currently lives in New York.

She currently has 62,000 Instagram followers.

She’s been acting for a while now

When Alexander was young she played baby Jesus in a church play. This sparked her interest in acting. She auditioned for commercials until she moved to the city at 18 to act full-time.

For a few years, she quit acting to work on music but her family convinced her to return to the craft.

“I was working as a maid and waiting for the bus. My sister finally broke me down and was like, if you do acting, you maybe don’t have to do this anymore,” Alexander told W.

Her sister sent her headshot to agencies and Alexander nabbed a role alongside Juliette Lewis in the 2019 series Sacred Lies. There she met her Gossip Girl co-star Emily Alyn Lind who later convinced her to audition for the part of Julien Calloway.

She’s a model, singer, songwriter and activist

Alexander sings and plays guitar. She dropped her debut album The Lonely Hearts Club in 2016 and opened up for Kehlani at Toronto Pride in 2018. In 2021 she was named the face of Holt Renfew.

When she isn’t wearing one of her many hats as a performer, she attends rallies and protests to support the LGBTQIA+ community and BIPOC.

She shaved her head to stand out in auditions

At auditions, Alexander felt she was seeing different versions of herself. That along with the expensive upkeep Black hair can entail led her to shave her head.

“I was trying to figure out what I wanted, and one of the things that I didn’t want was hair,” she told W. “I love Black hair and the experience, it’s such a spiritual thing. But there’s also a lot of money. There’s also a lot of work. It’s a lot of time. I was just finding myself unable to keep up with it, and the solution for me was to take it off.”

Alexander identifies as queer

The actress is openly queer and did a shoot with her girlfriend for Dauphine magazine.

“I feel empowered knowing I’m lucky enough to be able to live my authentic truth and self. I feel like once I really got right with myself everything is easier,” Alexander told Dauphine.

Who is Jordan Alexander dating?

Alexander met her girlfriend model Shane Homan on Tinder in 2018. The couple keeps things private but you can peep some pics of them together on their respective Instagrams.
