KFC is selling its fried chicken-scented firelogs again

Nothing says holiday season like … KFC?

Unless you live in Japan, where KFC is a Christmas tradition, you probably don’t associate yuletide celebrations with the scent of deep-fried chicken.

Now, you can though. KFC has announced that it’s bringing back its strange yet popular “11 Herbs & Spices Firelog.” As you can probably tell from the name, it’s a log that literally smells like chicken.

This is the third year in a row that KFC has sold the logs, which, oddly enough have proven to be wildly successful. According to Business Insider, the log has sold out both of the last two years.

It’s unclear if that will happen again this year. Still, if you do want your holiday home to smell like fried chicken, it’s probably worth making the move now before it’s too late. The firelogs are available for $15.88 at Walmart, both online and for pickup at some stores.

Meanwhile, social media users have launched into a sprawling debate over the product. Some called the firelog a “must-have,” while others seemed far more skeptical.

“What?! My people would be so disappointed if they walked in the house to that aroma and found no fried chicken,” one user wrote.

“This is what is wrong with America,” another wrote.

“Why is this a thing?” another asked.

“Oh bring it on!” another wrote.

Of course, KFC is no stranger to viral products. Early in 2020, the chain debuted a “chicken and donuts” sandwich, which the editors at In The Know had a wild time taste-testing.

A year earlier, the restaurant sold a horrifying, faux bearskin rug that had Colonel Sanders’ face on it.
