Thankfully, in the case of TikTok user @noname123, it was the former. The TikToker boldly decided to pop the question by hiding a ring in his girlfriend’s KFC biscuit — all while filming the exchange.
“Told her I wanted to take her photo holding the biscuit,” @noname123 explained in a caption.
In the clip, which now has nearly 15 million views, the @noname123’s girlfriend opens the biscuit and immediately begins screaming.
“Are you kidding me?” she asks.
Thankfully, they appeared to be screams of joy. As @noname123 confirmed in his post, his girlfriend did in fact say yes.

That positive outcome led to thousands of largely supportive responses. Commenters praised @noname123’s ingenuity, as well as his girlfriend’s “amazing” reaction.
“This is the most genuine proposal reaction I’ve ever seen,” one user wrote.
“Now this is true love,” another added.
“KFC should use this in a commercial,” another remarked.
In fact, support for the clip was so widespread that even some celebrities started to chime in. Everyone from R&B singer Tinashe to YouTuber Tana Mongeau left comments on @noname123’s clip.
Viral proposal videos are nothing new on TikTok, of course. However, in the past, many videos have featured prank proposals or proposals gone wrong. The KFC marriage proposal, meanwhile, seemed a lot more genuine and lighthearted than the norm.
That doesn’t mean @noname123 thought he was doing something normal, though. In a follow-up clip, the TikToker wrote that he “never thought” he’d have popped the question this way.
I never thought that I would be proposing to the girl of my dreams with a KFC biscuit.♬ I Saw Her for the First Time – Dr. Dog
