Scents are often personal. They can take you back to a childhood memory, the time you fell in love or make you feel a certain way. However, your signature scent is a fragrance that exemplifies who you are or who you want to be. It can be difficult to find, but La Boticá Studios has plenty of luxurious options that you should definitely consider.
La Boticá is a Latinx-founded, New York City-based luxury fragrance brand that makes niche and sustainable products “for the intentional self-care ritual.” You can shop for candles, body lotions, perfumes and more on its website. According to the brand, it sources all of its ingredients from South America.
“Inspired by the gallery space, contemporary minimalist design, and Afro-Dominican culture, La Boticá creates and develops a range of sustainable, intentional objects of home fragrance, perfume and incense. Bringing together modern ritual and La Cultura,” its website reads.
One of its classic scents is República, which pays homage to the Dominican Republic. It features notes of amyris, a flowering tree native to the island, with amber, benzoin and olibanum to evoke a woody, earthy and warm fragrance. It contains ingredients like botanical essential oils sourced from the island as well.
Another scent dedicated to the Dominican Republic is Flor De Selva, a tropical floral candle featuring notes of Dominican orange, resin, pimenta, cypress, nutmeg and white cedarwood.

Both of these scents are exclusively available as candles. And all of the brand’s candles are sustainably sourced with 100% natural coconut/botanical wax and a pure cotton wick. However, La Boticá’s perfumes are not to be overlooked.
Dawn Marie West, who has worked in art direction and photography for over 13 years, founded La Boticá Studios. Hence, her brand’s attention to aesthetics. She launched the brand in 2018 to bring together luxury perfumery and contemporary art. Now, less than four years later, La Boticá has a sort of cult following.
If you’ve been looking to give your home a more luxurious aroma or searching for your signature scent, try La Boticá. Not only will your candle or perfume smell good, but it will look good no matter where you place it.
