Add a little shine to your look with face jewels! Whether you’re dipping into some Y2K nostalgia, or trying out a Euphoria-inspired look, using face jewels as makeup is a great way to add shimmer and shine to your day or night. On this episode of In the Know: Beauty School, celebrity makeup artist and host, Kirin Bhatty (@kirinstagram), shares her tips and tricks for how to apply face jewels, as well as some of her favorite products to help you along the way.

Using the Half Magic Beauty Face Gems—which are from Euphoria makeup artist Donni Davy’s Half Magic beauty collection—Bhatty first recommends nailing down what size of jewels will best suit the look you’re going for. The makeup artist also notes that in order to ensure long-lasting jewel placement, it’s best to apply them on clean skin.

The gems are sticky on the back, but if you want maximum staying power, Bhatty suggests using some Duo Eyelash Adhesive. She pours out a small amount of the eyelash adhesive, and dips a Dotting Pen Tool into it. Then—where she plans to place a jewel—she places a drop of the eyelash adhesive onto the model’s face. Finally, she gently sets the jewel on top of the drop of adhesive and presses it in place.

There are so many different looks you can do with face jewels, whether it’s a symmetrical design or a teardrop. “And the best thing is, it’s not permanent,” says Bhatty. “So if you wanna take one off, just go ahead!”

Face jewels add dimension, and pick up and reflect the light as you move. They’re perfect for festivals, or just plain festive looks. “It’s super whimsical, sparkly, and it just makes me happy,” adds Bhatty.

With these face jewel tricks up your sleeve, you’ll be the brightest star in the room!
