Munich-based startup UrmO recently unveiled an innovative, compact electric scooter.
The UrmO scooter’s frame draws inspiration from two familiar contemporaries: the hoverboard and Segway. But unlike its competitors, the ultra-lightweight vehicle weighs a mere 13 pounds, making it ideal for transportation in cities. Its collapsable design makes it small enough to be carried by hand or stowed under a seat or desk.
The UrmO scooter is self-balancing so it’s easy for most people to ride. According to the company, 95 percent of test candidates felt comfortable using UrmO in under 10 minutes. Just stand on the device and use your hips to direct the scooter. AI-based steering makes it easy to maneuver around sharp turns at any speed.
Thanks to its handy folding mechanism, all you have to do is hop off the device and lift the center handle. Then users can carry it like a briefcase on the bus, train or work. For those who feel more secure riding something with handles, UrmO has an optional telescopic handlebar that attaches to the base of the device.
The space-saving e-scooter is of course, more eco-friendly than vehicles. Not only is UrmO great for commuters who want an easy way to travel once they’re in an urban environment, but it’s also a great option for city dwellers who want quicker transportation without the commitment of a car.
