Maid of honor’s speech takes a turn the groom was not expecting

There are many ways to approach a maid of honor speech. Some opt for a heartfelt confession of love and friendship, while others use it as a rowdy last hurrah for a changing relationship between two pals.

Whichever path you choose, the speech is an integral part of any wedding reception. One maid of honor, whose sister got married, opted for the sillier side of things.

TikTok user archivist1 shared her speech with her followers. She said in the video that she “just had to incorporate something memorable.”

“There comes a time in everyone’s life when they meet their one true love — their soulmate — the person who is going to love and cherish them for the rest of their life,” she said, before her serious tone shifted to jovial. “And that moment came for Yasmine when she met me 25 years ago.”

The bride and groom erupted in laughter, but it didn’t take long for the groom to start yelling back at her — jokingly, of course.

“Oh my, oh my … who is this person? Why are you like this?” he said, laughing and looking around in response.

Commenters were impressed by archivist1’s delivery.

“Omg you SOLD it. With the cry n everything I love it,” one user wrote.

“I was legit getting tears in my eyes,” another said.

Archivist1 said in the comments that she practiced the speech in the mirror before the big day.

She also confirmed that the groom was actually in good spirits about the whole thing.

“OK but I just know her husband is best friends with [her] whole fam,” one user commented.

“Yes, family game nights are even crazier now!” archivist1 responded.

If this is how fun their formal events are, we can’t even imagine what kind of wild stunts they could pull on a casual family game night. We’ll be waiting for our invites.
