Man surprises girlfriend by shaving his head in solidarity with her alopecia: ‘That’s true love’

A boyfriend in Monaco went viral for showing solidarity with his struggling girlfriend.

Eva Barilaro was diagnosed with alopecia 10 years ago. The condition causes hair loss, so it left Barilaro bald. But things looked like they were starting to change for the better — until they weren’t.

“Full of hope after months of growing my hair for the first time in 10 years, it started falling out again,” she told to Newsflare

Barilaro uploaded a clip of her boyfriend Damien shaving her head in May onto her TikTok, eva_barilaro.

In the video, Damien uses clippers to shave her head as Barilaro stands still and she faces the bathroom mirror. But when Damien is done with her, he doesn’t skip a beat. The boyfriend immediately starts shaving his head too. Barilaro sees the moment happen in their reflection and bursts into tears. Damien kisses her on the cheek and they hug.

The TikTok garnered 1.2 million views. Users praised Damien’s gesture.

“That’s true love and a partner for life,” one user wrote

“Omg. No hesitation. He just did it, that’s beautiful,” someone added

“I am struggling to find words to express how this made me feel. I’m sobbing,” another said

Barilaro shared some kind words for Damien when she reposted the video on YouTube in July.

“I will be forever grateful for being so well surrounded,” she said. “I wish everyone could be supported as well as I am daily. This video is to [remind] everyone that love is above all and that all one needs is love. Thank you Damien, I love you too.”
