Hubie discovered that his living room had not only been painted by a professional artist, but it was also hanging on display in an art gallery exhibition. The living room painting was created without the TikToker’s knowledge or consent, and he took to TikTok to question how something like this could happen.
The video begins with the TikToker asking, “Does anybody live near Unit London in, I guess, London and wants to do me a favor?” he asks.
Then the video cuts to a screenshot from Unit London art gallery’s Instagram account and shows one of the paintings that’s on display. In the painting, a camping chair sits on a red-and-white geometrically patterned rug. In front of the chair is a television that sits on the floor in front of a blank wall.
“Threshold by Mauro Martinez, on view now at Unit London Mayfair,” a caption on the Instagram post explains.
“For some reason, they have an oil painting of my living room,” the shocked TikToker exclaims. “This doesn’t look real. This can’t be real!”
“If you live by Unit London and could get me, like, a picture or video to confirm this, I would really appreciate it,” the perplexed poster says.
Then the video cuts to a photograph of the TikToker’s living room, which is nearly identical to the living room in the painting. The same camping chair sits on the same rug in front of a television. There’s only one noticeable difference, as the TikToker explains.
“This is the actual picture of the living room. Whoever did it cut off the BTS poster, which is funny as hell,” he says, pointing out a poster of the pop group BTS hanging on the wall behind the TV. “This doesn’t feel real.”
‘They should’ve added the BTS poster’
Viewers expressed shock at the TikToker’s story.
“This would send me into psychosis,” one viewer wrote.
“They should’ve added the BTS poster. It adds sizzle to it,” joked another TikToker.
