Margaret Josephs talks ‘RHONJ’ production shutting down

Bravo fans may have to wait a bit longer than usual for the next season of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.”

The long-running hit was just about one week into filming when production was forced to shut down as the country went into lockdown in March and, of course, nobody really knows when they’ll be able to ramp back up again.

During a recent interview with In The Know’s Gibson Johns, breakout cast member Margaret Josephs opened up about the “quick” turnaround from shooting to shut down.

“I had a feeling it was [going to shut down, but] we didn’t know it was going to happen,” Josephs explained. “We were excited all to be back, to start back together and get back into it. That’s when we always start, and we were looking forward to doing exciting things and be together. And then, you know, we just stopped. It was dead.”

“It was just like the world had shut down. But obviously, understandably so,” she went on. “First they were like, ‘We’re shutting down for a week. We’re shutting down.’ Now we’re shut down till god knows when.”

Josephs added that the pandemic has also affected her lifestyle brand, Macbeth Collection, but she’s continuing to keep busy in a variety of other ways.

“What are we going to do? We’re stuck trying to all trying to stay engaged with the fans, motivate people, trying to keep people’s spirits up, do charitable things, and we’re doing the best we can,” she said.

In addition to keeping up remote production on her podcast, “Caviar Dreams, Tuna Fish Budget,” which is part of the Toast Network, the three-season “Real Housewives” star has also made sure to put a ton of effort into giving back — especially by continuing to work with Brave Gowns, a charitable organization that she has spotlighted on “RHONJ.”

“Everybody who does watch [the show] knew I was involved with Brave Gowns, which makes hospital gowns for children. Well, that factory’s changed over to making masks antimicrobial masks that [are] not the N95, but these are approved by hospitals just to help out until we could get more N95 masks,” she explained. “They’ve changed over the entire factory. They’re all done on donation. […] I’ve been working on people getting to donate to that.”
