Meet the teenager who created TikTok’s viral ‘Savage’ dance

If you’ve been online any time since March 2020, you’ve probably seen a celebrity, social media star or bored relative attempt to perform a short but intense dance routine set to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage.”

Keara “Keke” Wilson, a 19-year-old Ohio woman, ignited the trend with a single TikTok video. She choreographed the “Savage Challenge” and encouraged her followers to mimic her moves.

Within just a few days, Wilson’s dance went from being a viral challenge to the hottest dance of the season. Celebrities like Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez and Megan Thee Stallion herself shared their own versions.

This probably won’t be the last you hear of Keke Wilson.

She often posts original dances she creates to her TikTok account, and it’s only a matter of time before another catches fire. She now has over 800K followers, and her posts have been liked more than 8M times.

Wilson’s publicist, Brandy Star Merriweather, told In The Know that creating things like the “Savage Challenge” is the teen choreographer’s specialty.

“In a time when we are all so disconnected due to social distancing, she was able to unite people from all over,” Merriweather continued.

We can’t wait to see what Wilson comes up with next.
