Miley Cyrus debuts drastic new look

Miley Cyrus is kicking off the new year with a new look — and new music!

The 27-year-old singer took to Instagram on Monday to reveal her new mullet-like hairdo, while teasing her upcoming material. Clad in classic blue jeans, a simple white tee, scuffed-up biker boots and black sunglasses, Cyrus posed in and around a park bench in a series of three posts.

“New Hair. New Year. NEW MUSIC!” she captioned all three posts, adding a skull emoji to each.

It’s unclear exactly what Cyrus’ plans are for her new era of music, which would follow 2019’s output of breakup anthem “Slide Away” in August and the SHE IS COMING EP released in May.

That being said, there are some hints around what’s to come from the former Disney star: In addition to Rolling Stone reporting that she and boyfriend Cody Simpson are gearing up for a potential joint project under the name Bandit and Bardot this year, following her hair reveal, Cyrus posted a screenshot of a FaceTime call with songwriter Andrew Watt. The go-to songwriter has penned hits for the likes of 5 Seconds of Summer, Camila Cabello, Rita Ora, Hailee Steinfeld and more.

The “We Can’t Stop” hitmaker also revealed that she’ll be performing at the BottleRock music festival in Napa Valley in May, which likely signals that her music will be released before then.

This also isn’t the first update to her look that the style chameleon has made recently: Last month, in December, the singer revealed on social media that she’d gotten the word “freedom” tattooed on her right hand, which many interpreted as an allusion to her divorce from Liam Hemsworth.
