You’ve likely seen hot chocolate bombs going viral on TikTok as of late. Well, with a little patience, you can make them yourself. In fact, it seems that a lot of people have become chocolatiers at home, thanks to the trend. Amazon’s third best-selling kitchen gadget is now a mold for hot chocolate bombs.
Hot chocolate bombs are basically hard chocolate spheres containing hot cocoa powder and marshmallows. When placed in hot milk, the chocolate melts, releasing the cocoa powder inside. The marshmallows then explode to the top of your cup. With a little stir, you have a deliciously rich and creamy cup of hot cocoa.
To make them, however, you need the right mold. This mold for hot chocolate bombs by homEdge on Amazon is made with food-grade silicone that’s nonstick and flexible, making it easy to pop your delicate chocolate spheres out.

“I used these to make hot chocolate bombs and they were the perfect size! Super easy to use, the chocolate popped right out with no issues and was so shiny,” wrote one Amazon reviewer.
Another reviewer, who also used the molds for hot chocolate bombs, added however that, “these are not the big size you see in videos, but they are perfect for a cup of cocoa.”
Here’s a quick how-to: To start, melt your choice of chocolate. Using a paint brush, paint a thin layer of chocolate on the inside of the molds. Next, place your molds into the fridge for five minutes or until the chocolate hardens. Then, remove your molds from the fridge and paint a second layer of chocolate over the first. Place them in the fridge again for five more minutes or until the chocolate is completely hard. Once they’re ready, you can carefully pop the sphere halves out.
To assemble, fill half of the sphere halves about 3/4 of the way with hot cocoa powder and marshmallows. Next, attach the other halves by either piping a small amount of melted chocolate to the edges to “glue” the halves together, or melt the edges of the empty half-spheres on a warm pan and attach to make full spheres.
When you’re ready, place your hot chocolate bomb in a cup and pour hot milk over the top. Then, watch, stir and sip.
