Now, just like the teenage brothers who collapsed into tears the second they met their new baby sibling, this bonus dad’s special connection to his son is touching hearts around the world.
In the video, Patty tells the story of her husband Juan’s special connection with her son, Robbie, as the loving stepdad tenderly shaves his stepson’s face.
“My husband and I met when my son was six. My son has Down syndrome and is 24 years old now,” the proud mom explains with on-screen text.
“He always showed me how much he loves me by how he treats my son… They’re best friends now,” Patty continues. “How did we get so lucky?”
The emotional mom concludes, “I’m blessed to witness this incredible bond and have such an amazing man by my side.”
The video ends with Juan gently drying off Robbie’s clean-shaven face as his son smiles and offers a sweet thumbs-up.
‘You can literally feel all the love he has for your son…’
Thousands upon thousands of TikTokers shared their emotional reactions to Patty’s video in the comments.
“Brought tears. Your son’s smile at the end shows that it’s the simple things that mean the most. What a man!” one user wrote.
“Kudos to your husband for showing that beautiful people are still in the world. Family isn’t always blood,” another user shared.
“It’s one thing to be a parent to your own, but it’s a whole other level to take care of kids that aren’t yours. That man has my respect,” commented another user.
“This is so sweet, made me cry. Such handsome men you have there,” wrote another user.
“You can literally feel all the love he has for your son,” commented one user.
Even the creator of the song used in Patty’s video felt compelled to weigh in. “Words do not describe how much it means to me that you used my song behind your amazing story,” commented Jax (@jaxwritessongs), singer/songwriter of “Like My Father.”
As Patty’s touching video proves, family is so much more than DNA. Family is the connection we share to the people who love us, support us and nurture us most of all.
