Mom shares the ‘mental health’ reason she has separate bedroom from husband

Some people just need their own space to protect their mental health. The thought of having to share a room with another person can be daunting.

Young TikToker @flossybaby was worried that getting married would mean sharing a room with her future mate. So Tiffani Michelle, a wife and mother with over 179,000 followers on TikTok, responded with a possible alternative.

Michelle and her husband cohabitate in their home, but she also has a separate room all to herself.

“I used to worry about this all the time,” Michelle explained. “I shared a room with my sister until sixth grade. Then once I got my own room, I was like, never again.”

But eventually, she did want to get married and had to come up with a solution.

“Having my own space is so important to my mental health, so I didn’t know what to do. And we worked it out,” Michelle said

Michelle then gave a tour of her room. Sometimes she tells people it’s her office if she doesn’t want them asking too many questions, but it’s actually her separate personal space.

It has a bed, a changing area, two closets for all her clothing, a lounge area and a workstation.

The video received over 7 million views. People praised Michelle for being so imaginative.

“Getting married doesn’t mean you can’t have boundaries or personal space,” someone commented

“You’re out here living in 3031,” another said

“I thought I was the only one! We each have our own room, then our shared room where we sleep together,” a person wrote
