Mom tells off ‘dirty old man’ in viral TikTok

An Illinois mom is going viral on social media after defending her daughter from a “dirty old man” inside a grocery store.

Julia Frank, a 21-year-old living in Chicago, posted a video of the confrontation to her TikTok page. The clip shows what happened when her mom, Stephanie Ibarrondo, began arguing with a man at the grocery store, BuzzFeed reported.

Frank’s video, which has been viewed more than 17 million times since it was posted on Feb. 11, begins with an on-screen caption stating that the unnamed man had been following and staring at her.

“A glance is one thing, but an obvious stare is another,” she told BuzzFeed of the encounter.

“You dirty old man. Stop staring at my f****** daughter’s a**,” Ibarrondo can be heard saying in the clip. “Get away from me.”

The man can be heard saying that Frank is “dressed like a whore” before walking away. The 21-year-old told BuzzFeed that she was actually wearing sweatpants and a baggy T-shirt, adding that regardless, she should never be judged based on her clothing.

“It shouldn’t be about what someone was wearing, ever,” Frank said.

Frank told BuzzFeed that her mom quickly alerted store employees about the altercation, and the staff ultimately escorted the man from the store. She also told the outlet that this sort of behavior is not out of character for her mom.

“She has raised me to be a stronger woman, so I’m able to teach my kids one day how to be strong as well,” Frank said. “She has taught me that no matter what happens, it’s always important to stand up for yourself.”
