Moving is definitely a process filled with lots of different emotions. I know firsthand because I just moved into a new apartment one month ago. While I was super excited for a fresh start in a new space, packing up my old one and getting settled into my current one was definitely an adventure.
And of course, moving is expensive! That’s why I turned to Amazon for many of the items I didn’t know I would need until I actually needed them. Not only can you get great deals on Amazon, but as a Prime member, many of the items I purchased arrived within a day or two.
Summer is a time when lots of people move. Whether you’ve recently graduated from college or your current lease is up, plenty of folks will be making the transition into new living spaces over the next few months. With that in mind, I’m sharing eight of the Amazon finds that I’d totally buy again. I’m not saying I want to move anytime soon, but the items below are Amazon items I purchased myself over the last month and would recommend wholeheartedly to anyone else who is moving.
1. Home Techpro Rug Pads Grippers, $12.99 (Orig. $15.99)
Area rugs are pretty pricey on their own, so I was really trying to avoid spending another $50 or $60 on a rug pad. I tried these Rug Pads Grippers, and they work great to keep my living room area rug from sliding around. I also added two to the bath mat in my bathroom, and it keeps it in place no matter how much I move around on it.
2. Yotache Magnetic Screen Door, $23.98
I’m lucky enough to have a balcony at my new place, but keeping the door propped open to enjoy the fresh air often meant dealing with flies in the apartment. Luckily, this Magnetic Screen Door fit perfectly on the opening of my balcony door, and was so simple to install. Now I can sit with the door open and not have to worry about bugs getting in.
3. Homepop Home Decor | Tufted Ainsley Button Storage Ottoman Bench with Hinged Lid, $144.49 (Orig. $169.99)
Apartments are notoriously short on storage space, so I invested in this Storage Ottoman Bench to hold extra sheets and blankets at the foot of my bed. I liked the first one so much that I actually purchased a second one to store shoes by the front door.
4. 1st Choice FBA_BCK31360 Retro Style Salt and Pepper Shakers with Stainless Tops, $6.88
Somehow my salt and pepper shakers were lost during the move, so I needed an affordable replacement. These Retro Style Salt and Pepper Shakers with Stainless Tops are perfect. I keep them on the counter to quickly and easily season food when I’m cooking. Plus, you can’t beat the price.
5. Globe Electric Novogratz x Globe Harrington 65″ Floor Lamp, $148.28 (Orig. $183.99)
I searched for weeks for a floor lamp for my living room before deciding on this Globe Electric Novogratz x Globe Harrington 65″ Floor Lamp, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a great size, looks very chic and stylish and it gives off great light to fill a pretty large space in my apartment.
6. Shell Pearl Night Light Bedside Night Lamp, $18.99 (Orig. $19.99)
Like most kids, my daughter was a bit nervous to sleep in a new room. She found these Shell Pearl Night Lights on Amazon, and I bought them right away when I saw all four colors were less than $20. Not only do these lights offer a pretty glow at bedtime, but they’re pretty decor pieces during the day.
7. Elmer’s Tac ‘N Stik Reusable Adhesive, $5.19
Rather than use tape that can peel off wall paint, I purchased this Elmer’s Tac ‘N Stik Reusable Adhesive for hanging art projects in my daughter’s room. Now, she can hang whatever she wants and when she wants to swap it out with something else, she can easily remove the tack without any damage to the wall.
8. Command Jumbo Universal Frame Hanger, $10.99
I swear by these Command Jumbo Universal Frame Hangers to hang artwork and pictures around my house. They can hold up to 8 lb, and taking them off is super easy and damage-free.
