The park, located at 55 Water St., is called The Elevated Acre. A hidden gem in the Financial District, this one-acre green oasis is easy to miss because its entrance is a rather anonymous escalator.
In nychicaa’s video, you can see that the park has “gorgeous views of bridges, water … and a heliport” plus “lush gardens” galore. There is even a “huge field for yoga, working out, lounging [and] relaxing.”
Some people were excited to learn about this hidden hideaway.
“Definitely need to go there thank u for sharing,” one person said.
“GOING TOMORROW, THANK YOU!” another user commented.
However, many native New Yorkers were upset with nychicaa for exposing one of the city’s best-kept secrets.
“I mean are you really from NY? Because NYers know how to stay quiet. Like why even share this,” one person commented.
“It’s not a secret anymore,” another angry user noted. “All my fav places are getting bombarded.”
“Its not nice to reveal places that new yorks treasure and keep to themselves,” a third person added. “We always ruining things now everyone knows.”
In the comments, nychicaa defended her decision to publicize the park, noting that she wanted to bring business to the downtown area.
“This video will generate more downtown activity, which will open more stores, creating more jobs,” she said. “Im a business woman.”
“This is NY, and people is what makes it NYC,” she added.
