Last year, TikTok introduced the “old money aesthetic.” Really, it’s just a way to describe dressing in quiet luxury brands. Quiet luxury is what the fashion world uses to describe high-end brands that make well-tailored, high-quality items without flashy labels or logos. However, it’s actually pretty easy to recreate the style with basics from just about any brand. No one has to know whether you spent $25 on a pair of wide-leg pants or $400 — it’s all in the styling.
That said, the old money aesthetic includes a lot of simple white button-up shirts, polo sweaters, tailored trousers and cashmere. However, looking rich doesn’t mean you have to forgo your athleisure. Tennis-inspired pieces are another big trend within the trend, and this set from Nordstrom Rack is one you can wear when you don’t feel like pulling out your loafers.
Airlux Polo & Skirt Set, $37.97 (Orig. $98)
The 90 Degree by Reflux Airlux Polo & Skirt Set will make it look like you stylishly just stepped off the court. It includes a cropped polo shirt and a pleated skort (yes, there are shorts underneath) in black, pink or blue and teal. Both items are made of a buttery soft athletic material and contain at least 8% spandex, so they’re stretchy and move with you, whether you’re actually playing a match or just grabbing a coffee down the road.
Of course, some pleated skirts can feel a bit young or cheerleader-like. This one is pleated all around except right in the front. This makes it feel a little bit more mature and sophisticated. You can complete the look with a clean pair of sneakers, your Prada sunglasses (or the dupe) and a sweater tied loosely over your shoulders.
This set regularly retails for $98, but it’s currently on sale for $37.97. That makes it less than $20 per piece! It really is a great deal, especially when you compare it to another expensive activewear brand that sells very similar items (*cough Alo Yoga cough cough*). See, you don’t have to spend a lot to look like you did.
