Natalie Tyson shared a TikTok video of a dress her sister’s friend ordered. The hilarious online shopping disaster garnered 8.4 million views. That’s likely because it’s so relatable. Who hasn’t ordered something online that was completely different when it arrived?
“She found it on a website called Chic Me and decided to order it,” Tyson told Newsweek of the friend.
Tyson captioned her video “I’m cryinggg” on TikTok.
First, Tyson showed the dress as seen in the Chic Me listing. The garment was a satiny, sage green with a cinched waist and puffed sleeves. It looked expensive in the photo but was priced at a reasonable, almost unbelievable, $32.39.
However, the real dress was abysmal in comparison. It was made from an entirely different material. It looked more like linen than satin. The color was similar but the silhouette was less like an hourglass and more boxy and unflattering.
“When her friend received the dress she instantly sent [my] sister a picture,” Tyson told Newsweek. “I was on FaceTime with my sister at the time and once I saw it we were both so shocked and laughed for like 10 minutes.”
“I didn’t expect it to look that bad but then once I saw it I was just wondering how a company could ever send something off that looked like that,” she added.
TikTok users felt similarly to Tyson: the real dress was unacceptable.
“The violation,” one person wrote.
“Such a disappointment,” someone commented.
“You get what you pay for,” a user said.
