A typical wedding day is all about happily ever after, but those who work in the industry know firsthand that love doesn’t always last.
Once you’ve been to your fair share of weddings, you start to notice subtle hints that the relationship isn’t rock-solid — at least that’s what one wedding photographer claimed.
“One time, I was shooting under this wedding photographer, and they told me they can always tell if a couple will last or not, based on three things,” she explained.
The first sign is that one of the spouses will request more than three photos without their partner.
The second sign is that the bridesmaids or groomsmen will avoid talking about the other spouse while they’re getting ready or giving a toast.
“That’s typically because they don’t like them,” she explained.
Finally, Herrington said it’s a major red flag when the two spouses spend more time with family and friends than with each other during their big day.
The TikToker asked her audience what they thought about those three indicators.
“Yep. My ex-husband didn’t spend time with me at the wedding, and his groomsmen didn’t say hi to me at all,” one TikTok user wrote.
“The last one is hard because you’re supposed to be a good host. I was running around making sure everyone was having a good time,” another said.
Other commenters shared the red flags they’ve noticed at weddings.
“I honestly think a big indicator is a huge, expensive wedding. Like they’re trying to put on a big show for everyone… don’t care about their marriage,” one said.
“I heard another photographer say if a spouse smushes cake in the other’s face it’s a good indication it won’t last because it’s rooted in humiliation,” another wrote.
To sum it all up, Herrington reminded her audience in a comment that everyone’s experience is different.
“No weddings are the same,” she said. “That’s exactly why I wanted to see everyone’s opinion.”
