This drugstore lipstick is a dupe for Charlotte Tilbury’s popular Pillow Talk shade, according to a makeup artist

If there’s one lipstick TikTok has claimed to be the most universally flattering color, it’s Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk. The lipstick, lip gloss and lip liner are a neutral, slightly berry pink. Although Pillow Talk is so popular, it constantly sells out.

If you love the shade but are struggling to get your hands on it, I recently learned about an alternative that you can find at most drugstores and on Amazon: Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in the color Loyalist.

This past weekend, I was getting my makeup done for a friend’s wedding when the makeup artist asked me what kind of lipstick color I wanted. Struggling to describe the exact shade, she asked me, “Pink, like Pillow Talk?” She told me it’s one of the most used lip colors in her kit and one of the most requested for weddings. (The bride was going to be wearing it, too.) However, she gave each bridesmaid a sample of their lip color in a mini container to reapply throughout the night, and she couldn’t give away all of her Pillow Talk. Instead, she said she gave me a little sample of Maybelline’s Loyalist color and called it a near-perfect dupe.

Loyalist looks most similar to the original Pillow Talk color, the lightest, almost nude pink shade. (There are two darker variations.) However, it’s easy to find Maybelline’s Loyalist in stock, it’s nearly half the price, and it provides up to 16 hours of wear. In fact, I hardly had to reapply mine at all.

Now, a few days after the wedding, I found the lip color on Amazon, and it’s on sale for less than $10. And you better believe I already ordered it! While I don’t wear lipstick that often, I like that this one gives me a little pop of color without looking over the top. It’s the perfect, most versatile pink shade for weddings, work meetings, date nights, brunch with girlfriends and more — and really, you just can’t beat the price.
