Due to strengthening social distancing rules, police in Derbyshire, England have had to come up with a creative way to keep influencers away from the famous “Blue Lagoon.”
Located in Harpur Hill, the Blue Lagoon is famous for its bright blue water. The Buxton Police shared on Facebook that they were receiving reports that people were still visiting the lagoon, despite social distancing rules.
“The location is dangerous and this type of gathering is in contravention of the current instruction of the UK Government,” the post read.
In an attempt to make the water less tempting for photoshoots, the police added black dye.
It’s not the first time the Buxton Police have had to do this to the Blue Lagoon. The water’s color comes from caustic chemicals in the quarry stone and can irritate the skin. But that hasn’t stopped influencers from jumping in for the perfect Instagram.
“This is a regular tactic that we use,” the Buxton Police confirmed on Facebook. “However, as things stand, it has never been so important to discourage these types of gatherings.”
